Youth Congress held in El Nido
At least 150 students, Sangguniang Kabataan officials and out of school youth have participated in the recently concluded Youth Congress in El Nido, Palawan.
The said Youth Congress was conducted last March 18 under the initiative of El Nido local government unit through its Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).
The event was also in partnership with SK municipal federation led by federation president Jestoni M. Enor.
“Bahagi ng makabuluhang aktbidad ang pagkakaroon ng malayang talakayan at pagbabahagi ng kaalaman para sa mga kabataan ng El Nido, kung saan ay naimbitahan upang maging tagapagsalita ang ilang kawani ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Palawan upang magbahagi ng ilang paksa patungkol sa kalagayang pangkalusugan ng mga kabataan,” the provincial government said.
Among the topics discussed was “Human Immuno Virus (HIV)-Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)” led by Dennis Abacial of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO)
The issue of teenage pregnancy was tackled as well as the “Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights among Adolescents.”
The event also featured discussion on “Drug Abuse and Prevention, Counter Terrorism at Human Trafficking.”
Meanwhile, free HIV testing and counseling was held.
“Lubos naman ang pasasalamat na ibinigay ng pamahalaang lokal ng El Nido sa mga kawani ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan dahil sa kanilang pakikipagtulungan upang maitaguyod ang kalusugan ng mga kabataang Palaweño,” the province said.
“Hinihikayat naman ni Gng. Tombaga ang iba pang opisyales ng Sangguniang Kabataan sa Palawan na bigyang pansin ang usapin ng kalusugan katulad ng isinakatuparan ng munisipyo ng El Nido,” it added.
