Albay Capitol to hold second iteration Gov. Bichara’s Sports Summit

The Provincial Government of Albay will hold for the second time the grassroots coaching program, dubbed as the “Albay Sports Summit II.”

The sports program will be conducted in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission – Philippine Sports Institute (PSC-PSI) and Bicol University.

Albay Capitol successfully hosted the first iteration of the sports summit last year.

“Focusing on 5 sports discipline, namely; Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Sepak Takraw and Swimming, the sports conference will gather some of the coaches and trainers in Albay in the said fields to undergo training from some of the country’s best coaches and trainors,” the provincial government said.

Last year, the summit featured Olympian, Elma Muros-Posadas, known as the “Long Jump Queen” and a stalwart for the Philippine team for many international competitions, such as the Olympics, Asian Games, Asian Athletics Championships, and a holder of various Philippine records.

The Albay Sports Summit II is slated on March 26-April 1 at the Bicol University Grounds.

Governor Al Francis Bichara hopes that through this summit, the sports program in Albay will be elevated giving Albayano athletes the chance to become “world-class.”

“We need to provide the Albayano Youth all the instruments and opportunities they can get their hands on so that they may excel in the field of sports, as the Governor of Albay, it is my duty to deliver on these needs,” Bichara earlier said.
