DA, Albay Capitol pitch advances of agriculture sector to students
The Department of Agriculture, in partnership with Albay Capitol’s agricultural office, has spearheaded an information campaign for youth regarding the sector.
The Caravan was held last March 7 and was held at the Albay Astrodome, in Legazpi City.
“Participants of the said event were high school and senior high school students from vafrious schools and other youth organizations from the province of Albay,” the province said.
The event carried the theme: “Kabataan sa Agricultura, Para sa Bayang Masagana” and featured lectures, inspirational talks, activities and games.
According to the province, the event “aims to orient, inspire and engage the participants, especially the young audience which are the students into the multitude of benefits that the Agriculture Industry can offer.”
The youth were taught about the different the professions, business opportunities and advantages the Agriculture sector could offer.
“Mr. Joseph Tacon, Alternative Head on Geomapping and Governance Unit, DA –Philippine Rural Development Project discussed a lecture on digitalization of Agriculture and the new technologies that are now available today for utilization,” said the province.
“Highlights of the Caravan were the creative booths offered with lots of games with prizes from the different organizations which partnered with the Department of Agriculture,” it added.
