Albay Capitol teams up with BCAARRD to conduct AGRI-FIESTA


The Albay provincial government, in partnership with a Bicol consortium for agriculture and natural resources research, has conducted a AGRI – Farmer and Industry Encounter through Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA).

The Albay government partnered with the Bicol Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (BCAARRD), composed mainly of twenty Consortium Member Institutions.

The event opened yesterday at the Albay Farmers Bounty Village and will run until today.

The province said that the event is in line with the BCAARRD’s technology dissemination, transfer and commercialization program with a theme “Science and technology for the People”

“The event will also serve as a profitable venue for micro, small and medium enterprise to commercialize local agro-aqua products. This year, the agri-fiesta features three commodities such as coconut, sweet potato and the queen pineapple,” the province said.

Dr. Sevella Tabayag, BCAARRD Deputy Director, said that they initiated a fiesta-themed event so that participants will appreciate it more.

“This year, it is in a form of fiesta. Para mas ma-appreciate sya kang mga farmers, entrepreneurs, producers, students and other participants coming from the Chambers of Commerce and the academe.”, Dr. Tabayag saidm

Gov. Al Francis Bichara Bichara on the other hand acknowledged the presence of the participants and of the organizers coming from the consortium.

“We conceptualized, developed and continually build the Albay Farmers Bounty Village because we envision it to be the one-stop center for everything agriculture in Albay, this will be the epi-center of a movement which will make Albay as the agricultural hub of the region, we welcome everyone to be a part of this huge development,” Bichara said.
