Palawan’s anti-drug council aims to strengthen campaign vs illegal narcotics

The Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) of Palawan has zeroed in on means to bolster its programs during its first meeting for this year.

The meeting was led by Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Program Manager Richcristopher Magbanua together with representatives from Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Also present were mayors and MADAC Chairpersons from various municipalities in Palawan.

“Tinalakay sa pulong ang mandato ng Dangerous Drugs Board kaugnay ng pagtatatag ng Balay Silangan, isang programa ng pamahalaan na magbibigay ng pag-asa sa mga drug surenderees na makabalik sa kanilang dating pamumuhay sa pamamagitan ng pagtuturo sa kanila ng kaalaman sa pagnenegosyo at paghahanapbuhay,” the province said.

The PADAC aims to build Balay Silangan in every town in the province. The first of its kind was established in Quezon town led by Mayor Joselito Ayala.

“Kaugnay ng pagpaupulong ay binigyang-pansin ang usapin sa paglalaan ng pondo para sa mga isasagawang programa kaugnay ng kampanya laban sa iligal na droga katulad ng pagsasagawa ng malawakang Information and Education Campaign (IEC) sa mga apektadong lokalidad,” said the province.
