Palawan Capitol mulls developing Provincial Agricultural Center in Puerto Princesa as farm tourism site

The Palawan Capitol is eyeing to transform the Provincial Agricultural Center located in Puerto Princesa as a farm tourism site.

Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Romeo Cabungcal said that they plan to repair the center’s facilities to open it for tourists.

“We want to develop it as a farm tourism site,” Dr. Cabungcal.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturists (OPA) administers the PAC.

He said that the PAC could offer a lot of activities that the tourists could enjoy.

“Ang gagawin natin dyan ay pwedeng pick and pay strategy or the other one na pwedeng activity ay pwede silang magtanim doon. So para bang hands-on ng technology,” said Dr. Cabungcal.

“If they stay there for about two hours pwedeng may seminar on organic vegetable production,” he added.

Dr. Cabungcal said that there’s so much to be done first in order to develop the area as a farm tourism site.

“[Patuloy] ang vegetable production doon [at] ornamental plants. Sa ngayon ay nandoon pa tayo sa landscape designing.”

“Ang mangyayari nyan ay collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, kasi ili-link natin doon sa Dairy Farm nila na pwede silang bumili doon ng ice cream [at] ang sa atin naman ay more on production ng mga vegetables,” he said.
