Palawan gov’t plans to maximize farm tourism market
The Palawan provincial government is planning to tap the farm tourism market in order to beef up the tourist destinations in the province.
The Palawan Provincial Tourism Office said that farm sites in the province have huge potential to become tourism sites.
Provincial Tourism Officer Maribel Buñi said that Palawan could maximize the untapped market and make it a tourist attraction.
“Ang [kinakailangan] lang naman dito ay kapag [mayroon kang] farm and you are open to welcome tourists in your farm, so possible ‘yun,” said Buñi.
Buñi and Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Romeo Cabungcal recently attended the Regional Farm Tourism Strategic Action Planning Workshop of the Department of Tourism (DOT) – MIMAROPA last week.
Also present during the workshop were tourism at agriculture officers from MIMAROPA as well as representatives from DOT, Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
“Ang pinaka-objective natin doon is to craft strategic action plan for farm tourism development in MIMAROPA,” Buñi said.
“Gumawa tayo ng goals, objectives and particular programs and projects for farm tourism development in the whole region,” she added.
