Naga Mayor John Bongat pays tribute to nonagenarian teacher and music afficionado

It’s not everyday that one gets to meet someone with a truly impressive life, but Naga Mayor John Bongat experienced that when he joined 94-year-old Gloria Cariño for her birthday.

In a Facebook post, Bongat said Gloria was a retired public school teacher and a musician at heart. Despite her age, she continues to be sharp as a blade and remains a virtuoso on the piano.

Her vision is near excellent and she can hear well. She also retains vivid memories of the past, he marveled.

He wished her a happy birthday and hoped she would have more happy years.

Let’s hope we could all be like her when we’re in our 90s!

“AT 94 TODAY, a musician at heart and a retired public school teacher, she’s sharp as a blade, a virtuoso on piano, until of late had served as an active piano accompanist and choirmaster at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Naga City, has an almost 20/20 vision, can hear well and can share vivid memories of her colorful past. Thanks po lola GLORIA Cariňo for the invite! Happy, happy birthday po and may you have many, many more bithdays to come! GLORY BE to you!,” Bongat posted.
