Para efficient! Palawan pushes for ‘Intelligent City’ LGUs

The Palawan government’s e-governance office, in partnership with other stakeholders, wants the local government units in the province to become “Intelligent City.”

The provincial government’s E-Governance Office partnered with Globe Telecom and Junior Chamber International to make LGUs in Palawan be an “Intelligent City.”

During a meeting held last Feb. 7, attended by several Palawan LGU officials and Local Finance Committee, it was explained that an “Intelligent City” is an LGU that use digital technologies in serving the people.

“Sa pamamagitan ng teknolohiya ay makakabawas ito sa gastos at konsumo ng mga resources gaya ng enerhiya, health care at mobility,” the province explained.

Part of an Intelligent City is the establishment of a Centralized Emergency Contact or Dispatch Center (Unified Security Platform), where LGUs help each other in times of calamities or disasters and with just one call, the information will be forwarded to the Command Center ng Provincial Government.

“Those are efficiencies na makaka-save ka ng time, effort and money. And to be able to develop an Intelligent City, you need to be prepared for a continuous development and changes… Technology is there to help, mas maikling oras, mas mabilis na response sa mga constituents…” Basil Carpio, Solution Expert feom Globe Telecom.
