Rep. Sato’s bill establishing Occidental Mindoro sports, training center gets House committee approval
Occidental Mindoro will soon have its own sports academy and training center, thanks to the efforts of Rep. Josephine Ramirez-Sato.
Sato said that her House Bill 7737, which seeks to establish the Occidental Mindoro Sports Academy and Training Center was approved recently by the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development.
Sato defended her bill, saying that the training center will also benefit nearby provinces and not just Occidental Mindoro.
She said that athletes from Romblon, some parts of Palawan, and Antique come to her province because it is more accessible for them.
“The proposed Occidental Mindoro Sports Academy and Training Center in San Jose will not only benefit the athletes of Occidental Mindoro alone,” Sato noted.
“Presently, we have athletes coming in from Oriental Mindoro, Romblon and some parts of Palawan and Antique because San Jose is nearer and more accessible to them than the capital towns of their respective provinces,” she added.
“The OkSi Sports Academy and Training Center will therefore benefit not just Oksi, but also the provinces of Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Palawan and Antique,” the feisty solon said.
