Albay seeks to create 2020-2025 tourism development masterplan
The Albay Provincial Capitol, through its tourism, culture, and arts unit, has met with representatives of various Tourism-Oriented Private Stakeholders (TOPS) to draft the Albay Tourism Masterplan for 2020-2025.
The Provincial Tourism, Culture, and Arts Office spearheaded the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) format yesterday, February 4 at the RED Conference Hall, Albay Capitol.
Those in attendance discussed the “meat of the masterplan” which anchors towards a goal to increase tourism-related events and at the same time create a balance with profits that can be generated from such activities.
“The FGD started last week with the first meeting of the representatives from different cities and municipalities in Albay on Friday,” said the province.
Albay Provincial Administrator Engr. Vida Maria Corazon Prollamante, who represented Gov. Al Francis C. Bichara, said that the FGD would encourage stakeholders to dig deeper on the tourism resources of Albay, “probably the best assets of our province.”
“Let us sustain our province together. Our goal is to increase tourism-related engagements and at the same time balance them with the care for the environment, the profitability and the social-impact, ” Engr. Prollamante was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, DOT Regional Director Benjie Santiago said the tourism development plan is mandated by law.
“It has to be aligned with the Comprehensive Development Plan of our country,” Santiago was quoted as saying.
