Sto. Domingo Mayor Aguas orders countermeasures as TD Amang affects Bicol Region
Sto. Domingo, Albay Mayor Herbie Aguas has ordered countermeasures as Tropical Depression Amang brings heavy rain in Bicol Region.
Aguas, chairperson of thr Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, said that rainfall is forecasted to be moderate to heavy in the next few days.
Aguas suspended classes in all levels starting today both public and private within the territorial jusrisdiction of the municipalityn, until lifted.
“Households and population at risk to Landslides at Alimsog, Buhatan, Salvacion , Calayucay, San Roque, San Andres, and Bagong San Roque are placed on Alert status and prepare for local evacuation if situation worsens,” his order read.
“Likewise, Households and residents near the major River channels in the municipality are also advised to be on alert status for possible river flooding and Lahar flows,” he added.
The mayor also prohibited activities on rivers and seashores.
“Absolutely no activities and no crossing on swollen rivers. Similarly, activities along seashores and sailing on rough seas are also prohibited,” said Aguas.
“Respective Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMCs) are advised to cause immediate communication and warning to their residents. Proper coordination to MDRRMO is also enjoined,” he added.
