The Palawan provincial government has allocated over P45 million this year for the tuition of the students under the Programang Pang-Edukasyon para sa Palaweño (PPP).

The province said that P45.6 million has been earmarked for the education program of Gov. Jose Ch. Alvarez under IHELP or ang Infrastructure, Health, Education, Livelihood and Protection of the Environment program.

“Ang naturang pondo ay nakalaan para sa pag-aaral ng mga mahihirap na Palaweñong kumukuha ng kursong medisina at ng kursong technical at vocational,” the province said.

“Kasama rin sa pondong ito ang pambayad sa iba pang mga obligasyon ng naturang tanggapan noong mga nakaraang taon,” it added

The IHELP Education Unit was established in 2013, which aims to uplift the lives of Palaweños and provide them the primary interventions they need such as medical services.

“Kaya ginagawa ito ni Gob. Jose Alvarez partikular [ang pagtulong] sa mga kumukuha ng medicine [ay upang] mabigyan ng doktor o espesyalistang doktor ang bawat ospital na ipinapatayo ng ating Provincial Government,” said Aldrin L. Nepomuceno from the Education Unit.

Under the program, scholars who will become physicians will be required to render services to the hospitals in Palawan

“Sa kasalukuyan ay mayroong 110 medical students at 10,452 mag-aaral na kumukuha ng kursong technical at vocational ang sinusuportahan ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan,” said the province.
