Mayor Bongat on Naga’s economic success: It’s all about improving ease of doing business

Mayor John Bongat said that the secret behind Naga City’s economic success is improving the ease of doing business.

Bongat served as the guest of speaker during the Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Induction and GMM last night at the Avenue Convention Center.

The mayor also credited the dedicated people in the city governrment as well as the transparent processes.

“The reason why Naga continues to dominate the economic landscape in Bicol is simple: ease of doing business institutionalized by a dedicated local government team, marked by transparent and above board permitting procedures and transactions with city hall coupled with a strong partnership with a very cooperative and public-spirited business community,” Mayor Bongat said.

Last January 3, the Naga City’s annual Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) has officially began last January 3 at the City Hall Compound.

The BOSS program aims to hasten the process of business registration and the ease of doing business in the city.

The said program “simplifies the procedure” of getting and renewing business permits in just three steps:

(1) submit;
(2) pay; and
(3) claim

“With the convenience it offers considering the centralized system of processing of documents, BOSS aims to help complete all necessary transactions of getting permits within hours less than half of the day—helping business owners to minimize the cost of registering and renewing the permits of their businesses,” the city government said.
