Naga City gov’t, various groups organize relief ops for TD Usman victims in Bicol
Various organizations in Naga City in coordination with the city government immediately responded to the needs of those who are affected by tropical depression Usman in Bicol Region.
TD Usman caused heavy flooding and landslide incidents in several areas in Bicol, particularly in Camarines Sur.
CamSur, Albay, and Sorsogon were placed under the state of calamity due to the said tropical depression.
“The Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management in Bicol, in coordination with the City Government of Naga, Naga City People’s Council (NCPC), Naga City Urban Poor Federation, Inc. (NCUPFI) and Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) set last January 3, 2019, the Typhoon Usman Relief Operation at the Plaza Quezon, Naga City and collected donations of various kinds for distribution at the areas affected by the typhoon,” said the city government.
Meanwhile, The Naga City Government passed an ordinance allocating P1 million to assist neighboring communities including the municipalities of Buhi, Bula, Nabua, Minalabac, Milaor, and Sagñay.
“In an interview, Mayor John Bongat shared that with the financial assistance, they hope that the affected municipalities will be helped with the materials, goods and other supplies that they may be needing,” said the city government.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), together with the Team Naga and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), also initiated the distribution of a number of sacks of rice for typhoon victims of Barangay Patitinan, Sangay.
