Gov. Bichara leads Christmas Tree lighting ceremony to mark Yuletide season
Governor Al Francis Bichara spearheaded the lighting ceremony of a “unique Christmas tree” last Saturday to mark the start of Yuletide season in Albay.
Governor Bichara said during the lighting ceremony of the Christmas tree atop the Peñaranda park that all he wants is “bright Christmas” for Albayanos
Bichara said that their Christmas tree is not a “traditional” one, noting that he does not want to compete with other Christmas trees in the world.
“Most of them are competing to have the tallest Christmas trees, let us not compete with them, I want to have a different design, but bright, this means let’s make our Christmas brighter and of course merrier,” Bichara was quoted as saying.
The Governor said that one of the reasons for this year’s illuminated display is to offer families a place where they can gather and enjoy the Holiday Season.
“Families can come here at night, we have fixed the fountains, we have bright lights and we will also open a night market, we also got a Santa Claus which will go around and give candies to the children,” the Governor said.
After the lighting ceremony, a fireworks display lit up the skies to the delight of the onlookers.
According to the province, the lighting ceremony is just the start of the Holiday festivities planned by the Provincial Government of Albay.
“[T]here will also be the Krismas sa Park celebration from December 17-22 where food stalls will be available near the stage, and also the Bulilit Pastores Season 2 Sing and Dance Competition on December 17, at the same venue,” the provincial government said.
