The Albay Provincial Meet has formally opened yesterday in Guinobatan with the theme of “Championing the Spirit of Young Albayano Athletes.”
The opening ceremony was spearheaded by the Department of Education at the Albay Provincial Sports Center, Guinobatan Albay.
The Palarong Panlalawigan is a 5-day sport activities that highlights different sports competitions.
It includes Archery, Arnis, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Billiards, Boxing, Chess, Football, Futsal, Gymnastics, Aero, Gymnastics, Sepak Takraw, Swimming, Softball, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Wushu, Wrestling, and Dance Sports.
Governor Al Francis Bichara personally attended the opening to show his full support.
“It is about time to improve this playground”, Bichara said referring to the Albay Provincial Sports Center in Guinobatan Albay.
The governor shared all his plans of upgrading facilities.
“Let’s try to produce more champions”, Bichara added.
According to the province around 2,000 delegates, together with their coaches and trainers from different schools in elementary and secondary levels, including the SPED, participated for the annual Provincial Meet.
“The event also serves the purpose in selecting the most qualified athletes in the forthcoming Palarong Bicol 2019 which will be held in Masbate,” said the province.
