Lilipad na! Marinduque Rep. Lord Velasco seeks budget flights to his province

0

Marinduque Rep. Lord Velasco is not giving up on his dream to have affordable flights to and from his province.

Velasco met with Cebu Pacific’s Lance Gokongwei to push for routes to Marinduque, and he got a positive response.

While the flights won’t begin in January as he had hoped because of technical matters that the airline has to complete, he said Cebu Pacific may open the new route by March,

March is the start of the summer season and setting this as the target would also give Cebu Pacific enough time for marketing and ticket sales.

The technical team would also have to determine fuel costs, flying conditions and runway length before deciding what aircraft to use and how much ticket prices should be.

It’s a long and tedious process, the politiko noted.

But in the end, it will be worth it!

“Had a fruitful meeting with Mr. Lance Gokongwei and his Cebupac team yesterday regarding the possibility of Cebupac flights servicing Marinduque. Although, I was not able to get my target date of flights coming in by January, which is due to a lot of factors like studies to be made by the airline company…they promised me that they would be starting on March 31 or a little earlier. Why March? March because it’s the start of the summer season, they need a month and a half before flying for ticket sales and marketing and their technical team has to inspect the runway for safety.

The technical team has also to measure distance (fuel cost), flying conditions (wind etc) and runway length which will determine aircraft passenger capacity/load which in turn will determine pricing.

A tedious and long process but that’s the road we have to take for our desired progress in Marinduque?????
