A new plaza and park for Calapeños will soon rise at the City Hall Complex next year, Calapan City Mayor Arnan Panaligan said.

The Kalap Civic Park, according to the mayor, is funded by the Budget department under its Green Green Green Public and Open Space Program.

“Soon to rise in 2019 at the City Hall Complex, the KALAP CIVIC PARK, a new park and plaza for the people. Funded by the Department of Budget and Management under its Green Green Green Public and Open Space Program,” Panaligan said.

The mayor said that only “native trees” such as molave, narra, banaba, katmon, kalantas and others will be planted at the said Kalap Civic Park.

“Native shrubs will be planted such as sampaguita, gumamela, kamuning, tsaang gubat and other native plants. A new park and plaza that the people of Calapan City can be proud of!,” said Panaligan.

Last October, the Calapan City was chosen as one of the local government units in the country that will be part of the national government’s Public and Open Space Program for Cities.

With the inclusion in the said program, the City of Calapan will receive P12.5 million for the establishment and construction of Kalap Civic Park.
