Para ‘di masikip! Calapan City mulls clustering of jails

The Calapan City Sangguniang Panglungsod tackled the proposal to have a clustered jail to decongest other detention facilities.

The council acted on the request of SJO4 Armando R. Amapola, warden of the Calapan City Jail.

Amapola wrote a letter to the council last September asking the approval of the Resolution Affirming the Clustering of Jails by designating the Calapan City Jail as the facility to accommodate inmates or Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) from clustered municipalities as specified in BJMP Comprehensive Operations Manual 2015 Edition”.

The city council said that due to the intensified campaign against drugs, the number of those who were arrested has increased.

Present during the hearing of SP Committee on Peace and Order and
Committee on Laws were Amapola, SJO3 Alfonso Nacino, Jr., San Teodoro District Jail, Deputy Warden, SJO3 Agnes Prieto, City Jail Deputy Warden at JO2 Carie Mae Sandoval, City Jail Nurse.
