Several towns, barangays in Palawan get ‘drug-free’ status

Several towns and barangays in Palawan have received a “drug-free” status pursuant to the validation of the Regional Oversight Committee-Barangay Drug Clearing Operation (ROC-BDCO).

The evaluation and validation was held in Puerto Princesa City, spearheaded by PDEA MIMAROPA Regional Director Mario D. Ramos, as the Chairman of the Regional Oversight Committee.

The Barangay Drug Clearing Operation is pursuant to the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 3 series of 2017, “Strengthening the Implementation of Barangay Drug Clearing Program.”

“Pagkatapos na maisagawa ang validation ng Regional Oversight Committee, umabot na sa anim (6) ang naideklarang drug cleared municipalities kabilang dito ang mga munisipyo ng Cuyo, Busuanga, Magsaysay, Aracelli, Cuyo at Cagayancillo,” said the provincial government.

It added that out of 367 barangays in Palawan, 103 have been declared drug-free.

The newly declared drug free localities are:

Aborlan:
– Tagpait

Balabac:
– Catagupan

Busuanga:
– Salvacion

Coron:
– Bulalacao
– Decabobo
– San Jose

Cuyo:
– Cabigsing
– Suba

Quezon:
– Berong
San Vicente:
– Alimanguan
– Caruray

Roxas:
– Abaroan
– Caramay
– Magara
– San Jose

Present during the validation were DILG Regional Director Florida M. Dihan CESO III and Vice Governor Dennis M. Socrates, representing Governor Alfredo Umali ng Mindoro Oriental, as well as the representatives from Department of Health, City Police Office and Palawan Provincial Police Office.

“Determinado ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa pamumuno ni Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez na paigtingin ang kampanya laban sa iligal na droga sa pamamagitan ng Provincial Anti Drug Abuse Program (PADAP),” said the Palawan province.
