Palawan takes home ‘Best Island Pavilion Award’ at MIMAROPA Agri-Trade Tourism Fair 2018
The Province of Palawan has bagged the “Best Island Pavilion Award” during the recently concluded MIMAROPA Naturally Agri-Trade Tourism Fair 2018 held at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
The MIMAROPA Agri-Trade Tourism Fair 2018 is the fourth iteration of the event and was held last October 17 to 21.
“Layon ng proyekto na mabigyan ng pagkakataon na maipakita ang mga ipinagmamalaking produkto at natatanging destinasyon sa rehiyon ng MIMAROPA na binubuo ng Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon at Palawan,” said the provincial government.
Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez, Caesar Sammy A. Magbanua, Chief of Staff, and Maribel Buñi, Provincial Tourism Officer, graced the event.
According to Regional Director Joel B. Valera of the DTI-MIMAROPA, the 5-day exhibit brought almost P70 million to the region.
“Maliban sa Best Island Pavilion Award, nakamit din ng Palawan sa pamamagitan ng Bambuhay Handicrafts mula sa bayan ng Busuanga ang Top Seller Non-Food Category habang Top Seller Pavilion naman ang lungsod ng Puerto Princesa,” said the provincial government.
A total of 86 exhibitors from Palawan joined the fair featuring various products such as daing, kasoy, coffee rice, mani, lamayo, suman sa bulo, honey, coco jam, sampalok candy, banana chips, buti-buti, tablea, wood artisan crafts, rattan baskets, pandan mats/bags, shell crafts, bamboo basket, handwoven basket/lanterns at bamboo straws, among others.
