Palawan provincial gov’t continues to implement Detect TB program
The Palawan Provincial Health Office (PHO) continues to implement its Detect Tuberculosis (TB) program in various local government units in the province.
Pamela L. Garcia, Infectious Disease Unit (IDU) Head of the PHO and the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) Coordinator in Palawan, said that her office just conducted screening at testing in Sofronio Espaňola town last Oct 15 to 19.
“Dagdag pa nito na mas madalas na ang kanilang pagtungo sa mga barangay ng Palawan upang mas lalong matutukan ang sakit na TB sa lalawigan,” she said.
Meanwhile, the province expressed gratitude to all the agencies that provide help for the implementation of the program.
Garcia said that these agencies include Innovations and Multi-Sectoral Partnerships to Achieve Control of TB (IMPACT), Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH), and the Department of Health (DOH).
“Actually malaking tulong siya, libre lahat at may result agad compare sa private hospitals, maganda in a sense kasi mabilis ang result” said. Garcia.
Garcia said that 11 LGUs have been included in their target sites for the implementation of the program. It includes the mainland towns.
“Aniya, noong nakaraang taon ay nakapagtala ng 30% o nasa mahigit 1,000 kaso ng TB sa Palawan,” said the province.
