CamSur provincial gov’t conducts tsunami drill in Caramoan
The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, in partnership with the Interior and Local Government department, led a tsunami drill in Caramoan.
The event was also spearheaded by the
Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and the local government of Caramoan.
Francis Brondo, Barangay Kagawad of Paniman, said that the activity helped ro be ready once a tsunami strikes.
“Basically, this tsunami drill was conducted for the safety of the residents here. Through this, we were able to know what to do when calamity or any hazard happens,” said Brondo.
The provincial government said that almost 500 residents participated during the activity.
“Prior to this, a 2-day training was conducted for the barangay officials of 16 identified tsunami-prone barangays. They were trained with the basic concepts of DRRM and ICS,” said the provincial government.
“Other drills will be conducted in Garchitorena, San Fernando, Iriga and Calabanga in the days to come,” it added.
