Palawan Capitol employees attend forum against illegal drugs, stress management

Employees and staff of the Palawan provincial government attended a forum on the ill effects of illegal drugs to one’s health as well as stress management.

The said discussion, held last Sept. 19, was spearheaded by the Provincial Human Resource Management Office as part of the 118th anniversary celebration of Civil Service in the country.

PHRM Officer Lucy V. Paredes told the participants that they should have a healthy minds and bodies to perform their functions well.

“Naanyayahang tagapagsalita sa naturang gawain si Gng. Ma. Theresa Acda, program manager ng Community Enhancement & Livelihood Program o CELP na tumalakay sa masamang epekto ng droga sa katawan ng tao partikular sa utak na siyang nagiging dahilan kung bakit nakakagawa ang isang gumagamit ng droga nang hindi kanais-nais na gawain,” the province said.

“Ipinaliwanag din niya na ang pagiging sugapa sa droga ay isang sakit na kayang gamutin kaya mahalaga na maagapan agad ito upang hindi lumala,” it added.

Meanwhile, Tristan Ray Besa, legal researcher from Provincial Legal Office, discussed the Republic Act 9165 or Dangerous Drug Act.

“Ipinaliwanag niya ang iba’t ibang kaso ng paglabag sa batas na ito at ang mga kaukulang parusa gayon din Memorandum Circular No. 13 S. 2017 na nag-oobliga ng Random Drug Test para sa mga opisyales at empleyado ng gobyerno,” said the province.

Dr. Welthy E. Villanueva of the Provincial Health Office discussed the various methods to handle stress and mitigate its effects.
