Corn farmers who have been provided with assistance by the Palawan provincial government are expected to double their produce in the next harvest season.

“Expected to harvest a minimum of 6 to 8 tons per hectare,”Nenita A. Tabangay, corn coordinator from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), said.

The provincial government said that Palawan has recorded 4 tons of corn per hectare in 2017.

The next harvest season of the beneficiaries will be on the latter part of October to early November

The beneficiaries include12 farmers from Barangay Calawag, Taytay and 17 from Aborlan.

The Corn Production Program is under the OPA. “It is a loan program with zero interest,” said Tabangay.
