The first-ever Albay Sports Summit has officially kicked off yesterday at the Bicol University.
Hundreds of coaches, trainers, athletes and sports coordinators gathered at the Bicol University grounds yesterday, August 29, to attend the Summit.
The said sports event was organized by the Provincial Government of Albay, led by Governor Al Francis Bichara, in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission and Bicol University.
“Internationally licensed coaches and officiating officials from the PSC are onhand to conduct trainings and seminars to local sports leaders, officials, and coaches to cascade updates and innovations in their respective sports,” said the provincial government.
“During the course of the 4-day program a series of consultative meetings, seminars and talks will cover sports science and grassroots coaching in several field of sports, namely; Athletics, Basketball, Baseball, Football, and volleyball,” it added.
PSC officials earlier visited various departments at the Capitol to pay a courtesy call.
“The staffs, coaches, athletes, and consultants from the Philippine Sports Commission paid a courtesy visit to Governor Al Francis Bichara, today August 28, 2018, at the Dignitaries Hall, Albay Capitol,” said the provincial government.
Bichara has mentioned that, together with Bicol University’s President, Arnulfo Mascariñas, they are pushing to have a Regional Office for Philippine Sports Commission here in the province.
