Catanduanes Gov. Cua encourages teachers from Virac to pursue post-grad studies


Catanduanes Governor Joseph Cua told the teachers from Virac to pursue post graduate studies and make the most out of the recently approved scholarship program of the province.

Cua’s spoke before the teachers from the municipality of Virac during the Municipal Teachers Assembly last August 8, 2018.

The Governor expressed his admiration for the work rendered by the teachers as he raised the need to tackle problems arising in the classrooms’ normal setting.

“There are many concerns of the teachers which we haven’t heard of and may this gathering be an avenue for every one of you here to brought up your concerns and be addressed accordingly… I can never fathom the kind of sacrifices and challenges you go through just to fulfill your duties in ensuring quality education to our young ones,” Cua said.

The event, with the theme: Listening to the Voice of Educators, served as an open camp in bringing up and discussing common problems experienced in the classrooms and the public schools in Virac.

According to the province, some of the issues raised during the open forum were questions about the proceeds and the right personnel of the school to manage the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses during the school year, explanation why school heads are always in the Division office or in other places instead of being in their respective school assignments and other fluctuates in the educational system in the mentioned municipality.

A total of 50 schools from the Municipality of Virac attended the said seminar.

Present in the forum were personnel of the DepEd – Division of Catanduanes: Schools Division Superintendent Socorro V. Dela Rosa, Officer-In-Charge Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ma. Luisa T. Dela Rosa, Chief Education Supervisor – Curriculum Implementation Division Josefa V. Zape, Chief Education Supervisor – School Governance and Operations Division Miguel C. Ogalinola, Education Program Supervisor (Private Schools) Gina L. Custodio; Education Program Supervisor in ESP Frankie T. Turalde, Education Program Supervisor in English Gina B. Pantino, Education Program Supervisor in Araling Panlipunan Cynthia T. Soneja, and Education Program Supervisor in MAPEH Nelson T. Sicio.
