The office of Catanduanes Rep. Cesar Sarmiento has initiated an Abaca Farmers and Stakeholders Consultative Forum recently.

Rep. Sarmiento said that the forum aims to inform the farmers about the programs of the province for the abaca industry.

Present during the event were abaca farmers from Viga, Payo and Bagamanoc towns.

The same forum was held earlier at the CSU Auditorium in Virac. It was attended by the abaca farmers from Gigmoto, Baras, Bato, San Miguel, Bato, Virac and Baras.

The said towns were hit by typhoon in December 2016, which destroyed their abaca plantations.
