Provincial gov’t gears up for ‘simple but meaningful’ Baragatan sa Palawan Festival 2018
All is set for the 2018 iteration of the Batagatan sa Palawan Festival happenning on June 8 until June 23.
The Provincial Government of Palawan has geared up for the celebration whic is expected to be “simple but meaningful” through various activities that “will surely attract hordes of spectators from both domestic and foreign tourism markets.”
Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez recently signed Executive Order No. 19 s.2018 creating the Baragatan Executive Commitee and the different working committees to prepare the “blueprint” for the annual celebration.
Ceasar Sammy Magbanua was appointed by the governor as the Baragatan Executive Committee Chairperson.
“Simple subalit asahang mas makabuluhan ang pagdiriwang ng Baragatan sa Palawan Festival ngayong taon,” said Execom Chair Magbanua.
The provincial government said that the soft opening on June 8 will feature exhibits showcasing Palawan’s good harvests and diversity as variety of local but quality products will be in full display.
“Expected to draw out spectators on the opening day is the baratillo-like trade fair dubbed Barakalan sa Baragatan, The 23 municipalities will banner their respective products and crafts in the LGU Agro Trade Fair,” said the province.
“Homegrown green thumbs will showcase their pots and plants in the Halamanan sa Baragatan Garden Show. For food bloggers and connoisseurs, a wide array of affordable, delicious and mouth-watering local dishes will be paraded in the Caraenan sa Baragatan Food Fest,” it added.
The Grand Opening scheduled on June 15 kicks off at 1:00 pm with the Parada ng mga Palaweño (Grand Opening Parade) and Float Exhibition.
“Nightly presentations at the Cory Park will enthrall the audience with a variety of shows depicting the rich and colorful culture of the province namely; Palawan Pop Idol/Munting Tinig, Tunog Palawan Songwriting Competition, Inter-LGU Musical Contest, Evening with the Classics Musical Treat, Gabi y ang Koltorang Palaweño, and the much-anticipated Mutya ng Palawan beauty pageant,” said the province.
“Beefing-up the Baragatan sa Palawan Festival 2018 calendar are nightly concerts, photo of the day contest, arts festival, world’s best and friendliest island photo contest, major sponsor’s night, conventions, symposia and seminar-workshops, dog show, quiz show, policy debate, outreach program, jobs fair, world’s best island travel and tourism fair and sports competition such as amateur boxing, 42K marathon, GSB Shootfest, basketball and table tennis competitions,” it added.
