Albay Gov. Bichara leads Livestock Day celebration
Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara has led the celebration of the livestock industry of the province, as part of the 5-day celebration of the 1st Magayon Bicol Agri-Expo at the Albay Farmers’ Bounty Village.
The celebration began with a goat show for the first part, with livestock owners parading their goats which wowed the crowd.
“The goat show featured four categories for their contest, the Astig na Kambing – for best male goats, Gandang Kambing – for the best female goats, Pormang Kambing – for the best goat in costume, and the best young goat category,” said the province.
There where also exhibitors also brought their products such as corn, eggs, vegetables, and fruits were featured and being sold for very affordable costs.
Later in the day, simultaneous activities were held in various locations.
“In the Farmers’ Auditorium, an Ortientation on Dairy Carabao Raising was held for livestock owners. The orientation is to help the participants expand and maximize their esouces for their livelihood and to promote the industry in the Province of Albay,” said the province.
Moreover, the Provincial Veterinary Services, led by Dr. Florencio Adonay, conducted some games and fun-filled activities for the participants, with prizes for the lucky winners. A raffle draw was likewise held with 10 native pigs were given to lucky winners.
Governor Al Francis Bichara, who has relentlessly pushed for the growth and emergence of Albay as an Agricultural hub in the Bicol Region, joined the festivities and was happy to see the participation of many local farmers.
“The Albay Agri-Expo will be the catalyst to the thrust that Albay will be having in the agricultural front, we have all the resources to be the regions hub for the industry and with the support of all stakeholders, this vision can become a realization soon,” Bichara was quoted as saying.
