Rep. Sato’s bill creating PUP branch in OccMin up for Duterte’s approval
Occidental Mindoro will soon have its own Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) campus, thanks to the efforts of Rep. Josephine Ramirez-Sato.
Both versions of the measure establishing PUP campus in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, have already been approved by the Senate and the House of Representatives.
This means that the bill is now up for the approval of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
Rep. Sato is the principal author of the bill in the lower chamber.
“Good news! My bill Establishing the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Sablayan Campus was passed by the House and the Senate,” said Rep. Sato.
“Eagerly waiting for President Duterte’s signature for its enactment,” she added.
Sato also thanked all the other co-authors of the bill and those who supported the measure.
“Big thanks to Cong. Ann Hofer, Chair of the House Committee on Higher Technical Education, Sen. Chiz Escudero, Chair of the Senate Committee on Education, Arts and Culture, Sen. JV Ejercito and to all our co-authors,” she said.
Meanwhile, Occidental Mindoro Vice Governor Peter De Jesus Alfaro welcomed the development, saying it will benefit a lot of students in the province.
“Ang pagpasa ng bill na ito ay pagkakaroon ng ibayong kalinangan ng mag-aaral at kabataan ng lalawigan para sa pagkakamit ng edukasyon na magiging gabay sa kanilang pagtanggap sa hamon ng buhay, at makamit ang pangarap na magandang bukas para sa pamilya, komunidad at bayan,” said Alfaro.
