Global Fund Organization visits Palawan to monitor programs against malaria

The Global Fund Organization has visited the Rizal town in Palawan recently to monitor programs being implemented to combat malaria.
The said local government recorded the highest number of malaria cases in the province.
Qi Cui, Country Portfolio Manager ng The Global Fund led the monitoring visit, together with other groups as well as representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Department of Health (DOH)- MIMAROPA officers and Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. (PSFI) representatives were also present in partnership with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Kilusan Ligtas Malaria (KLM).
“Ang Global Fund ay isang institusyong pinansyal na nagbibigay ng malawakang suporta sa mga bansa upang labanan ang pagkalat ng mga pangunahing sakit na bumibiktima sa mga mahihirap na mamamayan,” said the province.
“Ito ay isang pandaigdigang organisasyon na may pangunahing layunin na magbigay ng serbisyo patungkol sa pag-iwas, paggamot at pangangalaga ng mga nakahahawang sakit tulad ng Tuberculosis, (TB), Human-Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV)- Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) at Malaria,” it added.
Cui said that the organization has earmarked almost US$10 million for the implementation of programs to battle malaria in the county.
“Nakapaloob sa tulong na ito ang pagbibigay ng mga commodities upang mas lalong mapaigting ang pagpapatupad nito sa mga lalawigan sa bansa lalo na sa Palawan,” said the province.
Meanwhile, Aileen B. Balderian, Program Manager of Kilusan Ligtas Malaria under the Provincial Health Office (PHO), thanked he organizations supporting them.
“Very thankful kami kasi all out ang support ng Global Fund pagdating sa malaria program, in all the commodities and logistics pagdating sa operation for malaria ay sila ang nagpo-provide” Balderian said.
