260 drug surrenderees complete first phase of Oriental Mindoro’s pilot rehab program

A total of 260 drug surrenderees in Oriental Mindoro have completed the first phase of rehabilitation program at the Oriental Mindoro Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (OMRRC).

Leaders of the Oriental Mindoro provincial government led the sending-off ceremony yesterday held at the Oriental Mindoro National High School.

“Sa naturang gawain ay panauhin sina Governor Alfonso Umali Jr., Dr. Normando Legaspi, Provincial Health Officer II, Dr. Marpheo Marasigan, Chief of Hospital II, PCSUPT. EMMANUEL LICUP, RD, PRO-MIMAROPA Engr. Alfredo Lupig, PDEA at Dra. Linda Umali,” the City of Calapan said.

Also present were barangay captains in Calapan led by ABC President Hector Africa, employees of tge DOH-OMRRC as well as family and friends of those who graduated.

“Ang Oriental Mindoro Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (OMRRC) ay ang kauna-unahang Community-Based Rehabilitation Center for Out-Patients na naipatayo sa buong Pilipinas kung kaya ito ang naging pilot project at modelo para sa iba pang mga lalawigan,” Calapan City said.

“Ang naturang pasilidad ay tumatanggap ng mga kliyenteng kusang loob na dumudulog para sa kanilang rehabilitasyon na kabilang sa mild at moderate user,” it added.

Each patient needs to undergo 91 sessions in six months before they could hurdle the phase 1 of the program dubbed as the phase 1.

“Samantalang sa loob ng isang taon at kalahati ay magpapatuloy pa rin ang pag-alalay sa mga nagsipagtapos para sa After Care na kung saan ay nakapaloob dito ang pagbibigay livelihood program sa mga ito upang matiyak na hindi na muli silang babalik sa paggamit ng droga,” said the city.
