The Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro has given its solid support to initiatives towards the protection and conservation of mangroves in the province.

Just recently, Mangrove Green Wall Initiative Forum was held in the province attended by various stakeholders acting as one to conserve mangroves.

The conservation of mangroves was one in partnership with the Conservation International (CI) Philippines, a nongovernment organization.

For the CI’s part, it said that the Green Wall Initiative is “a firm commitment of the Province of Oriental Mindoro to restore and conserve the province’s vast mangrove and beach forest greenbelts.”

“It is a platform for the governments and communities to form a convergence initiative with NGOs, the academe, the business sector, and civic groups. Each member will pledge to contribute to ambitious but achievable targets,” said the CI.
