Puerto Princesa City dominates MIMAROPA RAA meet 2018


The City of Puerto Princesa has been named the overall champion of MIMAROPA Regional Athletic Association Meet 2018 after dominating the both the elementary and high school divisions of the sports tilt.

Puerto Princesa City bagged 35 gold medals, 34 silvers and 46 bronze medals in the elementary division. Meanwhile, it took home 70 gold medals, 51 silver and 59 bronze in the high school division.

The Occidental Mindoro province, this year’s host of the MIMAROPA RAA meet, was named overall first runner-up.

The province took home 32 gold medals, 33 silver and 30 bronze in the elementary division. It bagged 43 gold medals, 33 silver and 41 bronze in the high school division.

Meanwhile, the province of Oriental Mindoro has been awarded as this year’s overall second runner-up after bagging 34 gold medals, 28 silver and 25 bronze in elementary category and 23 golds, silver, and 43 bronze in secondary level.

The MIMAROPA RAA returned to San Jose town in Occidental Mindoro after 40 years.

The last time the Oriental Mindoro province hosted the competition was in 1970.

According to the Department of Education Regional Director Sadsad, San Jose’s hosting has set a standard in hosting the regional sports meet.

“[T]he hosting of Occidental Mindoro set a new standard in hosting regional athletic meet, this is unprecedented in the history of Mimaropa Raa Meet,” said Sadsad.
