The City of Calapan has found an innovative way of encouraging barangays to segregate their garbage through the “Basuraffle.”

The Calapan City, through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), launched yesterday the Basuraffle led by Wilfredo Landicho, which was attended by Barangay captains and councilors.

Landicho said that the program aims to instill the waste segregation to the minds of the residents and the negative effect of improper handling of wastes to the environment.

Calapan City Vice Mayor Gil Ramirez, for his part, highlighted the importance kf taking good care of the environment.

The problem on garbage disposal remains one of the concerns of the City government despite the efforts of Calapan officials.

“Upang higit pang maipaunawa sa tao ang kahalagahan ng waste management ay inilunsad ang inobatibong programa ang ipinatutupad sa pamamahala ng City Environment and Natural Resources Office,” the city said.
