The days of erring tricycle drivers in Calapan City are numbered.

The City Council of Calapan is now acting on a proposed resolution to amend the Code on Tricycle Franching and Regulation of the city to address the growing concerns on tricycles being used in crimes.

“Ayon sa datos mula sa Calapan City Police Station at Public Safety Department ilan sa mga naganap na krimen sa lungsod tulad drug pushing, attempted rape at acts of lasciviousness na kinasangkutan ng mga suspek gamit ang mga pampasaherong tricycle,” the city council said.

One of the proposed amendments is to paint the franchise number of the tricycle on the roof of the driver’s seat as the Calapan government works on installing CCTVs in the city.

Last Feb. 18, Councilor Felix Flores, SP Committee Chair on Public Safety, led the public hearing on the proposed amendment to the Tricycle Code and was attended by Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) Presidents.
