Para matapos na! Calapan City to find long-term solution on flooding woes

The City Government of Calapan and other concerned agencies will work on together to find long-term solutions on the flooding woes of the city.

Calapan City Vice Mayor Gil Ramirez called on an emergency meeting last February 9 to discuss the “critical situation” of Bucayao protection dike.

During the meeting, it was agreed that they will form a technical working group (TWG) that will be tasked conduct ocular inspection in areas vulnerable to flooding.

“Magsasagawa ng sama-samang pagtukoy sa mga lugar na malimit na binabaha sa Lungsod ng Calapan ang grupo ng mga konsernadong ahensya upang unahing gawan ng mabilisang pagkakasunduang solusyon ang problema ukol dito,” the Sangguniang Panglungsod said.

Ramirez said that solving the problem on flooding must be prioritized and a long term solution must be implemented.

“Bubuuin ang TWG ng mga dumalo sa pagpupulong na kumatawan sa City Vice Mayor’s Office, Provincial Engineer’s Office, National Irrigation Administration ng MIMAROPA, District Engineer’s Office ng unang distrito, at City Engineering Office,” the city.

It was also agreed during the meeting to form a master plan regarding the areas that usually experience flooding during rainy seasons.

“Kasama rin sa napagkasunduan ang pagsunod sa Master Plan hinggil sa pagbaha at ang pagkakaroon ng malimit na koordinasyon sa bawat isa ng mga ipinatutupad na proyekto hinggil dito ng mga ahensya ng pamahalaan tulad ng Pamalaang Panlalawigan, Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Calapan, NIA, Department of Public Works and Highways upang maiwasan ang overlapping ng mga ipinatutupad na proyekto hinggil dito at ang mga matutukoy na dapat na agarang isagawang proyekto ay maisama sa 2018 list of priority projects,” the city council said.
