Palawan to conduct dry run of RoRo program between PH, Malaysia this month

The Palawan Provincial Government will roll out this month the dry run of Roll On Roll Off (RoRo) program between the province and Malaysia.

The said RoRo program, that will connect Bililuyan Port in Palawan and Kudat, Malaysia, is expected to make the trade between the two countries easier.

“Napag-alaman mula sa Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines-East ASEAN Growth Area o BIMP-EAGA Local Government Forum Secretariat (LGFS) na itinakda ang dry run para sa RORO sa ika-18 hanggang ika-21 ng Pebrero ngayong taon,” the province said.

Representatives from Department of Transportation, Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippine Ports Authority, MARINA, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for human trafficking issue, Mindanao Development Authority, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Malaysian Embassy, Palawan LGU mayors, and members BIMP-EAGA committee in Congress are expected to attend the opening of dry run.

“Inaasahang sa naturang dry run ay mabibigyan ng pagkakataon ang ilang opisyales mula sa Kudat, Malaysia na makapunta sa bayan ng Balabac upang maipamalas sa mga ito ang itinatagong ganda ng munisipyo,” the province said.

The province said that it will ensure the safety of delegates that will visit Balacbac town.

“Sa buwan ng Marso naman inaasahan ang pormal na paglalayag ang FastCat, isang RORO vessel na maaaring magkarga ng mga sasakyan na naglalaman ng mga produkto mula sa Malaysia patungong Pilipinas o mula Pilipinas patungong Malaysia,” the province added.
