According to the mayor, the Maronite Order of Australia brought with them volunteer medical pactitioners and provided medicines for those in need as their own expense.

Mayor Bongat said that the annual medical mission of the Maronite Order is now on its sixth year.

“A cold, blessed Sunday morning to all! I WISH TO THANK, ÒN BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF NAGA, THE MARONITE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA for bringing doctors, dentists, nurses and volunteers at their own expense, and providing free medicines and medical supplies, for their 6th medical mission in Naga…,” said Mayor Bongat.

He added that the medical mission started in partnership with the Missionaries of the Poor led by the Maronite Order of the Philippines way back in 2013.

“Their yearly mission started in 2013 in partnership with the Missionaries of the Poor (in Brgy. Cararayan) when Fr. Joseph Ssali was still the MOP Rector, which has been sustained to this day by their new Rector, Fr. Lawrence Mendoza,” Mayor Bongat said.

Just recently, Mayor Bongat inspected the ongoing second phase construction of the city’s housing program together with a Maronite bishop from Australia.

According to the mayor, the Maronites Order of Australia and the Maronites Order of the Philippines will be partnering with the city government of Naga for a development of a new housing project.

“I showed to them our said project because the Maronite Order of Australia, together with the Maronites of the Philippines represented by Dr. Joseph Bichara, will be partnering with the city government and the MOP for the development of a new housing project in Brgy San Isidro for the more than 200 families belonging to the informal waste sector, who will be displaced in view of the closure of the existing Balatas dump site,” Mayor Bongat said earlier
