Para healthy at productive! Palawan gov’t to roll out health-related projects this year for Capitol employees

In a bid to have a healthy and fit employees at the Palawan provincial government, the Capitol’s Hypertension and Diabetes Club will roll out activities and programs that will be beneficial to the employees.

To kick start this plan, the said club has organized a lifestyle fitness session led by Manila-based fitness expert Sammy Bacaltos.

“Kanyang tinalakay ang mga benepisyong hatid ng ehersisyo sa katawan ng isang tao at ang mga dapat isaalang-alang kapag nag-eehersisyo. Aniya, kailangang maging maingat sa pag-eehersisyo lalo na ang mga taong may sakit sa puso at baga,” the province said.

For her part, Resurrecion D. Tuliao, Nurse II and the Program Coordinator ng Hypertension and Diabetes Club under ng Provincial Health Office (PHO), said that the lecture is a great way to encourage the employees to take care of themselves and be a productive public servants.

“Base sa pag-aaral, malaki ang porsyento ng mga namamatay sa kasalukuyang panahon dulot ng lifestyle-related diseases kung saan nakapaloob dito ang hypertension at diabetes,” the province said.

“Pagkatapos ng naturang lecture ay agad ring nagpulong ang mga miyembro ng Hypertension at Diabetes Club na pinangunahan ni Dr. Wealthy E. Villanueva, Medical Specialist II ng PHO. Naanyayahan ring si G. Bacaltos bilang consultant sa mga isasagawang pang aktibidad ng naturang grupo ngayong taon,” the province added.

Among the programs agreed during the meeting that will be implemented this year are the holding of exercise classes thrice every week and the regular monitoring blood pressure and fasting blood sugar of the employees.

“Sa kasalukuyan ay mayroon nang 64 na miyembro ang Provincial Government-Department of Health (PGP-DOH) Hypertension and Diabetes Club. Ito ay isang organisasyon na pinamamahalaan ng PHO sa pamamagitan ng Integrated Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Unit na may pangunahing layuning palawakin ang kaalaman sa wastong pangangalaga sa kalusugan ng mga kawani ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan,” said the province.
