Oriental Mindoro Umali inspects areas vulnerable to flooding

Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso Umali, Jr. has personally visited four towns in the province to personally inspect the cause of flooding in these areas.

Governor Umali was joined by Provincial Engineer Elmer V. Dilay during his visit in Abaton, Maidlang, Gutad, Navotas, and Camansihan towns recently.

Umali also held a consultation meeting with the officials in the said towns and identified the projects that could be part of the priorities of the provincial government this 2018.

“Personal na binisita ni Gobernador Alfonso V. Umali Jr. at Provincial Engineer Elmer V. Dilay ang mga lugar ng Abaton, Maidlang, Gutad, Navotas at Camansihan upang makita ang mga dahilan at epekto ng mga nakaraang pagbaha,” the province said.

“Sa pakikipagkonsultahan nila sa mga opisyal at mga mamamayan ng mga nabanggit na lugar, natukoy ang mga interbensyong kailangang maisagawa at magiging prayoridad ngayong 2018,” the province said.

The province said that Governor Umali will also visit other areas in Oriental Mindoro that are vulnerable to flooding and flash floods.

“Sa susunod na mga araw ay lilibutin naman ng Gobernador ang iba pang mga binabahang lugar sa lalawigan,” the province said.

Oriental Mindoro felt the wrath of twin tropical storms Vinta and Urduja last December resulting the declaration of state of calamity in several towns due to flooding.

Meanwhile, thousand of passengers were stranded during the onslaught of the said storms in the province.
