The province of Palawan looks to strengthening its local disaster risk reduction and management offices this year amid storms that battered the province recently.

During the local media briefing last January 3, the province said that it will boost the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) for a better and systematic response during calamities.

According to Cruzalde B. Ablaña, Officer-in-Charge of Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), there were several occasion during the onslaught of tropical storm Vinta in Mangsee Island that the MDRRMOs still depended on the PDRRMC.

Recent updates on the damage brought by Vinta and Agaton were likewise discussed during the briefing as well as the ongoing efforts to rebuild the towns devastated by said storms.
