Oriental Mindoro Gov. Umali provides financial aid to support MPA in 2 barangays

Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso Umali, Jr. has given financial assistance to two barangays as a support to a Marine Protected Area.
Governor Umali personally handed the checks worth P275,000 to the representatives of Barangay Antonio, Puerto Galera and Barangay Masaguisi Bongabong.
“Bilang suporta ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa Marine Protected Area (MPA) ng Brgy. San Antonio, Puerto Galera at mga mangingisda ng Brgy. Masaguisi Bongabong, pinagkalooban ni Gobernador Alfonso V. Umali Jr. sa pamamagitan ng Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgO) ng kabuuang P275, 000.00 na halaga ng tseke ang mga kinatawan ng dalawang naturang barangay,” the province said.
According to the Provincial Agriculturist Office (PAgO) the funds will be used for the construction of Marine Protected Area guard house and for the purchase of of fishing equipment.
“Ayon kay PAgO Provincial Agriculturist Cristine Pine at PAgO Fisheries Division Head Marilyn Alcanises, ang naturang halaga anila ay mapupunta sa proyektong pagtatayo ng MPA guard house ng San Antonio sa Puerto Galera samantalang fishing paraphernalias naman sa mga taga Masaguisi Bongabong,” the city said.
The Province of Oriental Mindoro has been named the most outstanding Marine Protected Area Network in the country during the 2017 Para El Mar MPA Award.
Governor Umali personally received the plaque of recognition for the award last October 201, 2017 held at the Iloilo Convention Center.
