Albay Gov. Bichara to Filipinos: Emulate Rizal’s heroism

Emulate the heroism of Jose Rizal, Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara told Filipinos as the country commemorates the anniversary of the martyrdom of our National Hero today.

Governor Bichara said that the Province of Albay joins the commemoration of the 121st anniversary of Jose Rizal’s heroism today.

“Nakikiisa ang pamunuan ng Lalawigan ng Albay sa pagdiwang ng buong bansa ng Araw ni Rizal. Sa araw na ito noong 1896, ang ating pambansang bayani ay pinatay ng mga Kastila sa Bagumbayan (Parke Rizal ngayon),” the governor said.

Bichara said that Filipinos should take the legacy of Rizal by the heart for the betterment of our country.

He also said that like Rizal, Filipinos should show empathy, especially those who are in need.

The governor likewise appealed for help for residents of Albay who have been hit by cyclone Urduja. The province is also experiencing torrential rains brought by the tail of cold front.

“Sana ang lahat ng Pilipino ay tularan ang kanyang kabayanihan para sa lalong ikakaunlad ng bayan. Kagaya ni Rizal, na matulungin sa kanyang kapwa, tayo din sana’y tumulong sa ating mga kababayang nasalanta ng masamang panahon nitong nakaraang mga araw,” he said.

Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara issued the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Advisory 2 yesterday ordering local government units to evacuate the residents living in critical areas as the province experienced torrential rains due to the tail of cold front

Bichara is the chairman of the PDRRMC.

The province also recently felt the wrath of tropical storm Urduja, which caused suspension of classes in the province.
