Vinta left 22 dead, over 1,000 damaged houses in Balacbac town, Palawan

Tropical Storm Vinta has left 22 people dead in Brgy. Mangsee, Balacbac Palawan and devastated more than 1,000 houses in the area, Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) Team reported.

“Ayon sa pinakahuling ulat na ibinigay nina Capt. Wanel Ansa, PCI Rafael Roxas, at Yanika Seratubias ng Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) Team na nasa South Mangsee sa Balabac ay umabot na sa 22 katao ang natagpuang patay sa kanilang paghahanap at 1,136 na ang pinal na bilang ng mga kabahayang nasira sa pagdaan ng Bagyong Vinta,” the Palawan provincial government said.

Of the 22 dead, 11 have already been identified as Meradz Kanang, Muza Sahi, Aliya Abdulmufti, Daddy Timiong, Baby Kasim, Romeo Tarsina, Nonoh Fraginal, Felix Polingtan, Al Mudja, Ronie Kiking, at Mac Mac Hassan. The remaining 11 are still being identified by the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO).

Meanwhile, of the 1,136 damaged Houses,, 652 were totally damaged and 484 were partially damaged.

“Patuloy pa rin ang paghahatid serbisyo ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan at iba pang mga ahensyang katuwang nito upang matulungan ang mga nasalanta ng bagyong Vinta sa nasabing isla,” the province sai.

The Philippine Coast Guard has already brought non-food items to Brgy. Mangsee last night and the Palawan Coast has already delivered family food packs, rice, and water to the affected residents.

Following the damage brought by the twin tropical storms Urduja and Vinta, the Palawan Provincial Council has declared the Southern Municipalities in the province under state of calamity.

The provincial government just recently launched Operation Tabang Casimanua to help the victims of the typhoons.
