87 drug surrenderees finish rehab program in Oriental Mindoro
Governor Alfonso Umali, Jr. can’t help but feel emotional after 87 drug surrenderees completed their rehabilitation program under the Oriental Mindoro Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (OMMRC) of the provincial government.
The surrenderees finished 91 rehabilitation sessions in OMMRC, one of the flagship projects of Umali in support of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs.
“Sana lahat kayo natuto rito. Sa inyong lahat merry christmas and happy new year, sana maramdaman nyo ang tunay na diwa ng Pasko na talagang mayroon tayong pag-asa at sana rin mag level- up na tayo. Lahat tayo ay may pag-asa kaya naririto kayo ngayon, narito tayong lahat”. “Salamat sa mga kasama natin na nagtulong tulong para dito,” Umali told the surrenderees during the send off ceremony.
The governor said he wants to keep the peace and order in his province while also providing second chance for those who walked the wrong path.
Meanwhile, Philippine National Police Provincial Director PSSupt. Christopher Birung said that they will support the rehabilitation program of the provincial government.
“Sana tuluy-tuloy na yan para makabalik na kayo ng buong buo ang pagkatao sa ating lipunan. Asahan nyo na ang buong kapulisan ng Oriental Mindoro ay kakampi nyo sa inyong pagbabago.” Birung was quoted as saying.
OMMRC administrators also thanked several barangay officials and other religious sectors for their support.
Aside from the PNP na religious sectors, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority also supported the OMMRC.
The Provincial Health Office administers the OMMRC.
