Oriental Mindoro gov’t: No increase of real property tax without consultation

The provincial government of Oriental Mindoro has stood firm on its position to defer the imposition of higher real property taxes in the province pending the consultation of all stakeholders.

Governor Alfonso Umali, Jr. met today with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) head today to discuss the said proposal.

“Sa isyu ng proposed Zonal Valuation sa lalawigan: nakipagpulong si BIR Revenue District Officer Esperanza Castro kay Gov. Boy Umali ngayong araw para pag-usapan ang pagtaas ng buwis sa mga real property sa Oriental Mindoro,” the province said.

The provincial leaders stood their ground on the proposal, saying that everyone must be informed first about the plan through proper consultation.

“Matibay ang paninindigan ng Punong Lalawigan tungkol dito base na rin sa inilabas niyang Notice of Opposition hinggil sa panukalang ito: pansamantalang huwag munang ipatupad ito at magsagawa ng malawakang konsultasyon sa mga konsernadong mamamayan sa Oriental Mindoro,” the province said.

Meanwhile, Governor Alfonso Umali has also met with various local government unit leaders and other government agencies to discuss the low pressure area that might hit the province during Christmas.

“Gobernador Alfonso V. Umali Jr., LGUs at mga kinatawan ng iba’t-ibang konsernadong ahensya ng pamahalaan nagpaplano hinggil sa posibilidad na pagtama ng namumuong sama ng panahon ngayong kapaskuhan,” the province said.

The Emergency Response Preparedness meeting was held at the Tamaraw Hall Provincial Capitol Complex.
