Albay gov’t alerts local disaster risk reduction councils to activate overnight evacuation due to Urduja
The provincial government of Albay has alerted the City/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils to activate is reduction plan for “overnight evacuation” as tropical storm Urduja already made landfall in Samar.
“The City/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils are advised to activate and execute their respective local risk reduction plan for an OVERNIGHT EVACUATION of vulnerable population for flood, landslide, storm surge in coastal areas and houses made up of light materials…” the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said in an advisory.
The PDRRMC, chaired by Albay Governor Al Francis Bicahara, said that the activation of the evacuation plan should be based on their own judgement as Urduja is expected to pass by the province by midnight today.
